KIM JUNG GI: HIS AGE, BIOGRAPHY, AND SUDDEN DEATH

Born in 1975, in the city of Goyang-Si, South Korea, at only 19 years old he entered the School of Fine Arts. There he specialized in Art and Design. After studying at Dong-Eui University, he had to attend military service, compulsory for all men in the Korean country.

The first work that was published was Funny Funny, in a magazine called Young Jump. After gaining experience for several years, KIM Jung Gi began teaching manwha, the specialty of Korean comics, to students from universities and private schools in his country.

Among his best-known works are the six volumes of ‘TLT, Tiger the Long Tail’, he also illustrated 2 novels written by the French author Bernard WERBER such as ‘Paradise’ (in 2010) and ‘Third humanity’ (2013).

In addition to exhibiting his works in galleries around the world, highlighting those in New York, Paris and Tokyo, he held the Guinness record for making “The longest drawing by an individual” with his work ‘Fisheye’.

THE SUDDEN DEATH OF KIM JUNG GI

On October 5, his fans began the day with news that left them frozen. Without knowing that he suffered from health problems, the brilliant cartoonist died in New York from what everything indicates would be a heart attack. From the artist’s social networks, his team communicated the sad news.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we inform you of the sudden passing of Kim Jung Gi. After finishing his last schedule in Europe, Jung Gi went to the airport to fly to New York, where he experienced chest pain and was taken to a nearby hospital for surgery, but sadly passed away.

Having done so much for us, you can now put down the brushes.
