Fredinard suffers from spastic cerebral palsy, a developmental disorder caused by damage to the brain which could make simple tasks challenging for those affected.
Fredinard whose Father is a fisherman, mother a petty trader, does not go to school because his family could not afford to.
According to Tunde Onakoya the Family could barely provide enough to feed themselves. But the little boy, with dreamy eyes, was determined to brace the odds.

He also stated that It wasn’t long after the training started before the talented kid stunned the organizers with his rare understanding of chess through pattern recognition.
