Kevin Parker is a multi-award winning Australian singer, songwriter, record producer and multi-instrumentalist best known by the title of his recording project Taming the Impala . What later began as a hobby for Kevin has made him one of Perth’s most influential musicians. He has released several chartbuster studio albums including Inside Speakers (2010), Loners (2012) and Currents (2015). He is also known for the release of his live album Live Versions (2014) at number 91 on the ARIA chart . However, he won over fans and critics with his ability to make multi-instrument music on his own.
He has also received several awards such as the 2015 ARIA Music Awards for Engineer of the Year and Producer of the Year. First album
Under the name Taming the Impala, he released his debut studio album entitled Inside Speaker on May 21, 2010. It was compiled from a total of 11 songs such as Clarity , Why Don’t You Choose? , solitude is bliss , and expectation . The album was titled as the 83rd Best Album of the Decade by Pitchfork Magazine . It also won several awards such as the J Awards for Australian Album of the Year , the Rolling Stone Award for Album of the Year . It was also placed inTriple J “The 100 Hottest Australian Albums of All Time”.

- He was born in Sydney but was raised in Perth by his mother.
- Kevin’s parents legally separated when he was only 3 years old and stayed with his mother until the age of 12. After that he often went to his father and stepmother Rhonda in Cottesloe.
- He has a half sister named Helen who was born from her 2nd marriage to his birth mother. Kevin is also a half brother named Stephen who is the child of his father’s 2nd wife.
- Music came to him from an early age as far as his father’s musical enjoyment was concerned. Jerry played in a band that featured the music of artists such as The Beatles , The Beach Boys , and Supertramp . He was also a big fan of English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Hank Brian Marvin.
- One of the first instruments Parker learned to play was the guitar. His father taught him how to play rhythm and would often have Kevin play rhythm guitar while playing The Shadow S lead riffs.
- Kevin’s older brother Stuart was also a drummer and it was from there that Kevin learned his drumming skills.
- During his childhood he would hold onto the vacuum nozzle as if it were a microphone and sing to his heart’s content while his mother was cleaning.

- At the age of 12, Kevin began experimenting with melody. He used two recorders to record and play back the sound of each individual instrument while continuing to record the sound of another instrument. Kevin continued the same process until his father bought him an 8-track tape when he was 16.
- At the age of 13 he met the guitarist and keyboardist Dominic Simper. The two attended the same music classes at John XXIII College . The 2 would play covers of Korn , Unwritten Law , and Submerged Loto along with 2Day FM presenter Dan Debuf.
- His broken home left Kevin feeling lonely and sad in his mid-teens. According to him, his hit album Loners (2012) portrayed how he would be feeling at that point.

- Parker’s dad never wanted him to be a musician in music in any way to make money because he believed it would take away the true feeling of making it. To keep his father happy, he even briefly abandoned the idea and began studying engineering, but soon got bored and began studying astronomy. However, when he was contacted by Modular Shots he couldn’t help but jump at the opportunity.
- His father battled cancer for almost a year before dying while Kevin was working on his debut album Inside Speakers (2010).
- In 2018, Argentine pop star Pablo Ruiz accused Parker of completely ripping off his song Oceano (1989). The song Pablo was referring to was It Feels Like We’re Only Going Backwards from Kevin’s second studio album Loners (2012).
- In the past 20 of his demo songs have been released via YouTube. He had only created them for his friends and himself.
- In 2009, his fellow Impala tame fellows Jay Watson and Nick Allbrook took him on as a drummer for their rock band On Pond .
- Kevin formed a second band called Mink Mussel Creek in 2005 alongside Impala Tame members Nick Allbrook, Shiny Joe Ryan and other friends. They released their first album entitled Mink Shell Manticore in 2011.
