Actor Kevin McCarthy, star of ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers’, died at the age of 96 on September 11, 2010. Throughout his career, he has appeared in numerous films, plays and television productions. In total, he exceeded two hundred papers.
Born on February 15, 1914, in Seattle, Washington, Kevin McCarthy was the son of a devout Catholic. His sister Mary his would eventually become a renowned writer. The young McCarthy studied at the University of Minnesota, where he discovered his acting vocation.
He made his film debut with the war drama Appointment in Heaven , by George Cukor , where his role was minimal. From that moment on, she developed an intense career, in series and movies. In 1956, Don Siegel cast him as the lead in Invasion of the Body Snatchers , which would become a B-movie classic. He played Dr. Miles J. Bennell, who was trying to warn everyone that some neighbors were They don’t behave normally. “They’re not human,” he yelled in the most well-known sequence, in which he runs through traffic.
McCarthy himself was briefly involved in Invasion of the Dead Body , the remake starring Donald Sutherland . McCarthy went on to be nominated for an Oscar, as a supporting role, for his work as the son of the lead, Fredric March , in The Death of a Salesman , from 1951. He also performed the play on the London stage.
McCarthy has worked on films such as Just Cause or Your Honor , and has continued to be active until his death. After divorcing Augusta Dabney, with whom he had three children, he joined Kate Crane, with whom he had two other offspring, and who was with him at the time of her death.
