Katy Jurado is an iconic Mexican-born actress who has been named responsible for spreading Mexican heritage in the American film industry. Jurado was a woman who showcased a wonderful and fiery personality who portrayed famous antagonistic roles in Mexican film. She quickly brought that flair to Hollywood, and the iconic actress managed to destroy several stereotypes suggesting Latino women were only meant for sexpot roles in American movies.

Katy made her Hollywood debut with the film ‘The Bullfighter and the Lady’ in 1951. KATY JURADO: EARLY CHILDHOOD AND EDUCATION

Maria Cristina Estela Marcela Jurado Garcia was born on January 16, 1924. She was born to father Luis Jurado Ochua who was a lawyer and mother Vicenta Estela Garcia de la Garza who was a singer. Katy also had two brothers Luis Raul and Oscar Sergio. She grew up in a family full of talented individuals with even her godfather Petro Armendariz a famous Mexican actor. However, her family was not very supportive of her life choices in the early stages.

The jury comes from a wealthy family in Guadalajara. Well, what wealth? According to reports, his family owned just about everything that is now Texas. To pursue her acting dreams, she signed her first professional contract without her family’s consent. They threatened to send her to a boarding school, but that wouldn’t stop this fierce woman.

Katy was getting roles at a young age and her family still didn’t really like the idea. Therefore, to get away from the boundaries of her family, she married Victor Valazquez who, like Katy, was also an aspiring actor. She was then able to make her debut in 1943 with the film No Mataras. After that, people doubting his abilities were impressed. During these years she worked as a film critic, journalist and bullfighting analyst to support her family.

While working as an analyst, Jurado met American filmmaker Budd Boetticher who immediately signed her for the film ‘Torero and the Lady’. The film which premiered in 1951 made headlines around the world. She struggled with English, but her strong determination and personality earned her all her attention in Hollywood.

Jurado then took English lessons and managed to land a role for the classic “High Noon”. She was able to win a Golden Globe for Supporting Actress for her role in the film. Despite her fame and success in Hollywood, she still worked in Mexican films to help them improve.

Next came his role in the movie Broken Lance. People weren’t sure about giving Jurado the role because of his age. However, age was just a number for this exceptionally well-adjusted young woman. She was able to be nominated for an Academy Award for the film.

Now coming to her love life, Katy has been married to 2 men. Her first husband was Mexican actor Victor whom she reunited with just to get away from the boundaries set by her parents. The whole affair was a bit shady and the couple had only been together for 4 years. Nevertheless, they had 2 children, his son Victor Hugo and his daughter Sandra.

In 1954 Katy met American actor Ernest Borgnine who was filming in Mexico. Reports suggest that Ernest was constantly courting Katy for the next two years after they first met. They later fell in love and finally took their vows in 1959. Things didn’t last for Katy this time either. Things fell apart for the couple just 4 years after they married and they separated in 1963.
