Celebrity Biographies
Katherine Heigl
A television little doctor has been her calling card to become the new queen of American comedy. The camera adores Katherine Heigl, although perhaps she would appreciate a greater success when choosing the films where she is involved. Tell yourself in her discharge that it is not easy to find good comedies.
Katherine Heigl was born in Washington on November 24, 1978, although she is of Irish and German ancestry. She is the youngest of four siblings, and her parents moved to New Canaan, Connecticut when she was a child. When she was not yet eight years old, a tragedy struck the Heigls: a car accident took her eldest son, Jason, after spending a few days in brain death; His organs were donated, and the whole family became aware of this issue, so that years later Katherine would take advantage of her celebrity to encourage people to become a donor.
Katherine’s acting career began as a child’s game. At nine years old, she took some photos presenting a hair product created by her imagination. An aunt of the little girl took the photos and moved them through modeling agencies. As a result, the Wilhelmina company was interested in that girl who was so photogenic and cute. And Katherine began appearing in print and TV cereal ads. Of course the girl’s career was controlled by her parents, especially her mother, who continues to act as her agent today.
At fourteen, Katherine makes her film debut in That Night, a film with C. Thomas Howell and Juliette Lewis of little interest. She was 14 years old, and she would continue chaining more or less interesting titles, such as King of the Hill (1993), by Steven Soderbergh , and My Father. What a link! (1994), opposite Gérard Depardieu ; the girl didn’t attract much attention, but she was carving out a consistent career. She did not even disdain working with Steven Seagal in High Alert 2 (1995), her action movie debut, or in the Diabolical Doll saga with Bride of Chucky(1998). They weren’t leading roles, but it didn’t matter a stone…
A change of scenery was provided by the TV. In 1999 she signed for Roswell , a teenage science fiction series in which she was busy for three years. Somehow something similar to popularity is born, and he does not leave the cinema altogether, since he also acts in the 2001 horror movie A Dead Valentine . Curiously, he played a medical student, a true premonition of the medical fates that awaited him on the small screen.
Because the blonde actress was giving different television tumbles of unequal interest, when in 2005 she was selected to give life to the romantic and sentimental doctor Izzie Stevens from Grey’s Anatomy . Surely she and Patrick Dempsey are the ones who have benefited the most from the series in their respective careers, although the rest of the cast, including Ellen Pompeo , also became immensely popular.
If the hospital series showed something in Heigl, it was the natural sympathy that she exuded, which made her the ideal girl for comedies of different kinds. In this chapter, her best work was in Embarrassing Mess (2007), a fun reflection, with a hooligan tone, on responsibility in romantic relationships, where she was directed by Judd Apatow . More classic –in fact, the actress even said that she did not like Apatow’s somewhat macho coarseness, something that the director and other friends would reproach her for–, but she was also successful, she was 27 dresses(2008), where she was the eternal wedding planner who can’t find her better half. Which does not match her real life, since at the end of 2007 she married the musical composer Josh Kelley, with whom she has had a son.
The actress told me in an interview that “I really like Rock Hudson ‘s and Doris Day ‘s comedies , because they have very sparkling and funny dialogues”, which gives an idea of what her tastes are. Other variants of the genre have been The Ugly Reality (2009), where she was a television reporter, and Killers (2010), where she unknowingly marries a spy. Her latest projects are Como la vida misma and One for the Money .
