The British Kate O’Mara died on March 30, 2014, at the age of 74 in a nursing home in the county of Sussex, in the south of England. She has only transpired that she died from “a short illness”, in the words of her agent. She is mostly known for the series “Dynasty”. As one might assume, despite the similarity of her names, she has nothing to do with Kate Mara.

Born on August 10, 1939, in Leicester, Frances Meredith Carroll (as her real name was) was the daughter of a flight instructor, but her artistic streak came from her mother, the actress Hazel Bainbridge ( Neighborhood Police ). She was also destined to pursue her portrayal of Belinda Carroll ( Seaside Seduction ) her younger sister.

At the age of 24, Kate O’Mara took the stage for the first time for a version of “The Merchant of Venice.” The production company specialized in horror, Hammer, recruited her for two 1970 films, The Vampire Mistresses , where she was the governess under the orders of the vampiric countess Carmilla, and The Frankenstein Horror , in which she played a maid of the scientist .

Satisfied with the results, the company offered her a permanent contract, but she turned it down so as not to be pigeonholed in the horror genre. She lavished herself on television from then on, appearing in numerous series.

The actress became very popular as Caress Morell, sister of Joan Collins , in ” Dynasty “, a series that was enormously successful in the 80s. “There was a strong tension between my character and that of Collins. Mine was like a mosquito that when you least expected it would appear to bite you, “O’Mara declared. She also played a villain in the cult series Doctor Who .

Divorced from the interpreter Jeremy Young ( The Saint ), with whom she had a son, she joined another, Richard Willis , 18 years her junior. She also had another offspring from another unspecified relationship. In addition to interpreting herself, Kate O’Mara dedicated herself to writing, as she published two novels and two autobiographical books.
