kara hayward
Before he came of age, he had already worked with two of the greats of ‘indie’ cinema, Wes Anderson –as the lead– and Jim Jarmusch –in a much shorter role–. It can still be said that it has just begun, but Kara Hayward exudes expressiveness with her eyes, so it seems that moviegoers will not easily forget her.
Born on November 17, 1998, in Winchester (Massachussetts), in the bosom of a middle-class family, Kara Hayward is the eldest of two brothers. She has been passionate about reading since she was very young, specifically she adores “Dracula” by Bram Stoker , her favorite book. “I read everything that comes my way,” she explained in an interview. She also considers herself passionate about cinema, thanks to Little Women (1994), with Winona Ryder , a title that seduced her when she was very little. Her parents sent her to a summer camp where she discovered her passion for theater in a small show performed with her classmates.
At the age of twelve she was a precocious girl, who was already familiar with Wes Anderson ‘s films , having seen The Tenenbaums , A Trip to Darjeeling and Fantastic Mr. Fox . So she was thrilled when her dance teacher explained that this filmmaker had called an audition for her next job, Moonrise Kingdom .. He managed to seduce the very personal author, because of his potential to play one of his usual children capable of acting as adults. Despite her inexperience, he bet heavily on her, entrusting her with the main female role of her, Suzy Bishop, the misunderstood daughter of a lawyer couple who meets her young friend Sam, to run away from home. The character shared the voracious reading habits of the actress. “The volumes that my character had were invented, but the director had commissioned the covers from different artists, and they had turned out so well that I really wanted to read them.”
Critically acclaimed for her work, she received several major award nominations, including Chicago Film Critics’ Choice Outstanding Promise. “The experience of interpreting has been so intense that I have fallen in love with this profession; I hope to continue, as long as I can continue studying at school,” Kara Hayward explained then. “However, I have to be careful, many young people are so obsessed with impressing others that they neglect their priorities.” Although she has since continued to appear in series ( Law & Order: Special Victims Unit , Haters Back Off ) and movies ( The Sisterhood of Night ), most of her work has been as brief as minor. She appeared in Manchester facing the sea, by Kenneth Lonergan , where he played Silvie, one of Patrick’s ( Lucas Hedges ) girlfriends, a teenager who has been orphaned suddenly, who was taken care of by his uncle ( Casey Affleck ). She could also be seen in a scene in Jim Jarmusch’s Paterson as a student riding with a classmate on the bus driven by the lead, Adam Driver . She also has a minor role in Us , Jordan Peele ‘s second film after Let Me Out , in which a family is attacked by evil doppelgangers.
Anderson turned to her again to voice Peppermint, the mother of six puppies in Isle of Dogs , her stop-motion animated film. Currently, Kara Hayward has decided to devote herself full time to acting. She has starred in The Drunk Bus, a dramatic comedy for young audiences directed by John Carlucci and Brandon LaGanke. In the roles that she is given in the coming years, it will be seen if she establishes herself as an adult actress or if she was a flash in the pan like so many others.
