JUSTIN ROSE PUTTER
Rose uses a Rose Proto Axis 1. The face of the body is 303 stainless steel and the black part of the chassis is carbon fiber. The shape, with a pair of wing-like extensions in the heel and toe areas, isn’t particularly unique, but the hosel bends and goes inside the head in front of the hitting surface, which is unusual.
According to Phil Long, Partner and Vice President of Axis, this allows Axis to position the putter’s center of gravity and sweet spot directly in the center of the strike zone. As a result, Long said, the Axis putter doesn’t twist on impact, and the face doesn’t open and close as much during the stroke.

JUSTIN ROSE EQUIPMENT
Here are the clubs, balls and other golf equipment he uses on the PGA Tour:
Driver
Specifications : Honma T // World TW 747460 (9.5 degrees) with Honma Vizard FD-7X handle
Rose’s Honma T//World TW 747 460 speaker features an extremely thin and lightweight carbon fiber ribbed crown, which helps lower the center of gravity. Behind the strike zone, four fang-shaped pieces (two in the sole and two in the crown) stiffen the area around the face for better energy transfer, while a non-rotating hosel allows golfers to change independently the loft, the lie angle and the face angle.
fairway wood
Specs : TaylorMade M6 (15 and 18 degrees), with Mitsubishi Tensei CK Orange 80 TX shafts.
Justin Rose Golf Clubs
Irons
Specs : Honma Tour World Forged TW-U proto (2), Tour T // World Rose Proto MB (4-9), with KBS C-Taper 125 S+ shafts
Rose irons are forged in Japan from S20C mild carbon steel. They were developed over several months while the Englishman worked with the Honma design team and, as you would expect, they have a very thin topline and sole with minimal offset. The clubs will be made available in the US this spring as the Honma T // World MB Rose Proto.
Shims
Specs : Honma Rose proto (48, 52 and 56 degrees), Titleist Vokey Design Raw 2018 Proto K-Grind (60 degrees), with KBS High Rev 2.0 135 X shafts
Rose’s wedges are not chrome, but raw steel. Over time and with exposure to water and air, they rust. Many pros like rusty corners because they reduce glare and, it is believed, help create more spin.
Ball
Specs : TaylorMade TP5 marked 99 in gold
The Buzz: Most golf balls are numbered with a 1, 2, 3, or 4, but Rose’s TaylorMade TP5s are 99 gold. Why 99? His wife Kate’s favorite number is nine, and Rose thought he would double his luck with 99.
JUSTIN ROSE HONMA
Rose parted ways with TaylorMade to collaborate with Honma. He revealed that he used the Honma TW 747 driver, irons and wedges with some TaylorMade fairway woods, the TP5 ball and a new Axis1 putter. Axis1 is based near Boston and claims its putters are perfectly balanced for a more consistent delivery.
And it was the flexibility of using a putter of his choice that prompted him to seek out a more flexible equipment offering. “That was a big factor in having that flexibility,” Rose said. “The putter was a big reason this conversation [with Honma] started.” But he said having input while designing his new irons was a bonus.
