Bruening has his first television credit on an American television soap opera, All My Children from 2003 to 2007, where he played the character of Jamie Martin. He was cast along with Kelly Ripa, Cameron Mathison , Cady McClain, and others.
The couple married on June 5, 2015. After two years, Bruening left All My Children and soon after they moved to Los Angeles.
