Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has increased the number of his Special Assistants on Political Unit Affairs from 100,000 to 200,000.

On Friday, he made the announcement as he swore in the second and final group of the initial 100,000 assistants from the Rivers East Senatorial District. Nyesom Wike, On Thursday, administered oaths of office to the first group of roughly 45,000 assistants from the Rivers South-East and Rivers West Senatorial Districts.

The state government first announced the appointment of the record-breaking number of assistants on October 11 with an initial estimate of 14,000 people.

The following day, it was doubled to 28,000, and then it increased to 50,000.

In a decent media chat, Governor Wike revealed that the PDP leaders in Rivers State had discussed and decided to increase the number of Special Assistant appointments to 100,000.

At the very least, appointees were chosen evenly, with representation from all political units across the state’s 23 Local Government Areas’ 319 Wards.

Their responsibility is to provide the state government with frank feedback from the general populace. Through the 319 Ward-level liaison officers, who will then report to the 32 State Constituency Liaison Officers for transmission to the Governor’s office, they are to convey public sentiment toward the Wike administration.
