JUST IN: Female Adamawa journalist kidnapped regains freedom

The female journalist, identified as Amrah Ahmed Diska that was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Adamawa State has regained freedom.

Recall that the female journalist who is a nursing mother and also worked for Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) was kidnapped two weeks ago leaving behind her six-month-old baby.

The kidnappers were said, upon their arrival into the residence, broke the sitting room door and forcefully gained access into the bedroom demanding to know the whereabouts of the victim’s husband.
When it was clear that the husband was not around, the gunmen decided to abduct the wife, leaving behind her six-month-old baby.

According to her husband, Alhaji Ahmad Isa Mbamba, Diska was freed in the early hours of Wednesday.

“Alhamdulillah Amra has regained her freedom and reunited with her family safely,” he said in a Whatsapp status.

“she returned safely. Our sincere thanks to all colleagues for their show of concern and prayers,” he added.

However, it was earlier reported that her abductors demanded a ransom of about N50 million, which after series of negotiations, was reduced to N20 million.

However, as at the time of filing this report, we could not ascertain whether ransom was paid to the hoodlums before she was allowed the air of freedom.

Shortly after her abduction, it would be recalled that the leadership of the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), had tasked all the members of the union to embark on fasting and prayers for her safe release
