BIOGRAPHY OF JÜRGEN KLOPP
Jürgen Norbert Klopp, known professionally as Jürgen Klopp, is a German football manager and former professional player. He is currently the manager of Premier League club Liverpool.
Klopp spent most of his 15-year playing career at Mainz 05. He would later become their longest-serving manager from 2001 to 2008. It was during this time that they achieved promotion to the Bundesliga.
In 2008, Klopp joined Borussia Dortmund. He brought them back to Bundesliga wins in 2011 and 2012. Klopp also brought them back to DFB-Pokal wins in 2012 as well as the DFL-Supercup in 2013 and 2014.
In 2013, Borussia made their second appearance in a UEFA Champions League final under Klopp. Jürgen Klopp won German Football Manager of the Year in 2011 and 2012.
He left Dortmund in 2015 to become its longest-serving manager. He became manager of Liverpool in October 2015, guiding them to the League Cup and UEFA Europa League final in his first season. In 2018, he led Liverpool to the 2018 UEFA Champions League Final.

Klopp was born in Stuttgart, the capital of Baden-Württemberg to his parents Norbert and Elisabeth. He grew up in the Black Forest village of Glatten with his two older sisters; Stefanie Klopp and Isolde Reich. His father, Norbert Klopp, sold wall lights and pegs for a living.
Klopp’s father was an active sportsman in his early days and he taught his son through physical training. As a young boy, Klopp played tennis in the summer, skiing in the winter and football all year round.

Jürgen Klopp has been married twice. He first married Sabine Klopp and together the two had a son; Marc Klopp in 1988. However, they divorced in 2001.
In 2005, Klopp married Ulla Sandrock whom he met in a pub during an Oktoberfest celebration the same year. Ulla Sandrock is a social worker and children’s writer. She has a son, Dennis, from a previous marriage.

JÜRGEN KLOPP MAINZ
Klopp started his career at Mainz 05 as a player for 15 years. Upon his retirement from Mainz 05, Klopp was appointed club manager on 27 February 2001 following the dismissal of Eckhard Krautzun.
A day after, Klopp took charge of their opener, which saw Mainz 05 win 1-0 over MSV Duisburg. He remained as manager for seven years. During this time, he led the team to their first Bundesliga appearance and qualification for the 2005–06 UEFA Cup.
At the end of the 2006-07 season, Mainz 05 were relegated but Klopp opted to stay with the club. He resigned at the end of the 2007–08 season because they were unable to secure promotion. Klopp finished with a record of 109 wins, 78 draws and 83 losses.

2008-2012
In May 2008, Klopp became Borussia Dortmund’s new manager by signing a two-year contract at the club. The club had finished in a disappointing 13th place under former manager Thomas Doll.
Klopp’s opening match as manager came on August 9, 2008 in a 3-1 DFB-Pokal win at Rot-Weiss Essen. In the first season under Klopp, Borussia Dortmund won the DFB-Supercup, beating German champions Bayern Munich.
At the end of the first season, the club finished sixth and fifth in the season that followed. He then led the club to successive Bundesliga titles in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.
The 81 points accumulated by Borussia Dortmund in the 2011–12 Bundesliga season were the highest points in Bundesliga history.
Additionally, the 47 points earned in the second half of the season set a new record. However, in 2011 Dortmund lost the German Super Cup to rivals Schalke 04.
Klopp achieved the club’s first-ever domestic double on May 12, 2012, after beating Bayern Munich 5-2 to win the 2012 DFB-Pokal final. He described the double as “better than he could have done”. ‘imagine”.
2012-2015
Borussia Dortmund’s league form in the 2012–13 season was not as impressive as the previous season. Klopp insisted his side would focus on the UEFA Champions League to make up for their disappointing run in the competition the previous season.
Borussia drew against Manchester City, Real Madrid and Ajax in the competition’s group of death. However, they didn’t lose a game and they topped the group with impressive performances. Borussia Dortmund progressed to the final, meeting José Mourinho’s Real Madrid again in the semi-finals of the competition. Borussia beat them at home in the first leg 4-1 and lost 2-0 away.
Dortmund narrowly progressed to the final. They lost the final 2-1 to Bayern Munich, with an 89th-minute goal from Arjen Robben. Borussia Dortmund finished second in the Bundesliga. They also lost the 2012 German Super Cup.
Klopp extended his contract until June 2018 at the start of the 2013-14 season. On March 17, 2014, Klopp was fined €10,000 after being sent off from a Bundesliga game against Borussia Mönchengladbach. This was following a ‘verbal attack’ on the referee. Referee, Deniz Aytekin, said Klopp’s behavior was ‘rude on more than one occasion’.
In the 2013–14 season, Dortmund finished second. Moreover, Dortmund won the German Super Cup and were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals by eventual champions Real Madrid, that same season.
Dortmund started by winning the German Super Cup in the 2014-15 season. After a disappointing start to the season, Klopp announced in April that at the end of the 2014-15 season he would leave Borussia Dortmund.
His last game in charge was the 2015 DFB-Pokal final and Borussia Dortmund lost 3-1 to VfL Wolfsburg. Dortmund finished in the league in seventh place. They were knocked out of the Champions League in the round of 16 by Juventus. Klopp finished with a record of 179 wins, 69 draws and 70 losses.
JÜRGEN KLOPP FC LIVERPOOL
Klopp signed a three-year contract to become manager of Liverpool on October 8, 2015, replacing Brendan Rodgers. His first game was a 0-0 away draw with Tottenham Hotspur on 17 October 2015.
On 28 October 2015, Klopp picked up his first League Cup win over Bournemouth as Liverpool manager to advance to the quarter-finals. His first Premier League win, a 3-1 away win, came three days later when he won against Chelsea.
After three 1–1 draws in the opening matches of the UEFA Europa League, Liverpool beat Rubin Kazan 1–0 in Klopp’s first win in Europe as Liverpool manager.
He missed a Premier League game to have an appendectomy after suffering from suspected appendicitis on February 6, 2016. Liverpool lost the 2016 League Cup Final on February 28, 2016 at Wembley Stadium against Manchester City 3- 1 on penalties.
On 17 March 2016, Klopp’s Liverpool qualified for the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals by beating Manchester United 3–1 on aggregate. Liverpool fought back from a 3-1 second-half deficit in their quarter-final second leg against former club Borussia Dortmund on April 14, 2016.
They won 4–3, advancing to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals 5–4 on aggregate. On 5 May 2016, Klopp led Liverpool to a first European final since 2007 by beating Villarreal 3–1 on aggregate in the UEFA Europa League semi-final. In the final, Liverpool lost 1–3 to Sevilla with Daniel Sturridge scoring the opening goal for Liverpool in the first half.
On July 8, 2016, Klopp signed a six-year contract extension keeping him at Liverpool until 2022. Liverpool qualified for the Champions League for the first time since 2014-15 after winning 3-0 at home to Middlesbrough on 21 May 2017 and finishing fourth in the 2016–17 Premier League season.
Liverpool qualified for the 2018 UEFA Champions League Final on 2 May 2018, following a 7–6 win over Roma in the semi-finals. However, they lost the final 3-1 against Real Madrid.
