Juan Muñoz became one of the most famous and admired people in our country thanks to his participation, along with José Mota, in the duo Cruz y Raya. We review his age, his enmity with his duet partner and his life before entering as a contestant in ‘Survivors 2022’.

He was born in 1965 in Barcelona, ​​proving at school that he was destined for the world of humor. Being just a teenager, he goes from imitating his teachers to acting in a theater, where he charged 1,000 pesetas per performance, 6 euros today.

When it seemed that his show career was beginning, Juan had to do his compulsory military service, the MILI, where he coincided with what would be from that moment on when they became inseparable.

After finishing, they became partners and thus Cruz y Raya emerged. Both participated in various radio programs with great success on stations such as Antena 3, Radio Nacional or the Cope network. These interventions were combined with performances in nightclubs and discos.

After a short debut on La 1, they jumped to a newborn Telecinco in programs like Tuttifruti, but they definitely returned to the public network, where they became stars from 1993.

In addition to achieving millionaire audiences on television, Juan Muñoz and José Mota also starred in two films with great success in our country: ‘¡Ja me maaten…!’ and ‘Team Ja’.After 22 successful years, Cruz and Raya separate, each starting very different careers. José Mota began to become the great benchmark for humor that he is today, while Juan began a long period of disappearance from the media.

Since 2007 it has only jumped to the present due to controversy. The most important came in 2021, when he charged his partner hours after the death of his mother. After the great uproar, he decided to rectify quickly and justify what happened.

In all this time he has always hovered over the suspicion of his addictions to alcohol and gambling, in addition to the debts that plague him. Despite everything, alone he has signed great performances, such as when he became the voice of Shrek in the Spanish dubbing of the tape.

The reason for the separation of the comedians was never clear, although the Barcelonan wanted to clarify recently that it was all of his own free will: «I was the one who made the decision to leave TV. I was wrong, I was missing many things in life ».

The reason was none other than his son, a stranger until recently. «My son was 15 years old and I had missed his childhood»… «I didn’t want to miss adolescence. And José decided to continue. The ‘culprit’ of this separation is called Ángel and he remains completely out of the media.

In ‘Survivientes 2022’ he will coincide with other contestants such as Charo Vega , Ainhoa ​​Cantalapiedra,  Ana Luque ,  Yulen Pereira ,  Ignacio de Borbón ,  Anuar Beno  and  Rubén Sánchez Montesinos and Desirée Rodríguez . In addition, they will have the incorporation of  Ion Aramendi  as the new presenter of the program.
