Juan Luis Guerra Seijas is a Dominican songwriter, producer, songwriter, and singer. Guerra has sold more than 30 million records to date and has received several awards, including two Grammy Awards, 18 Latin Awards, and two Billboard Music Awards. He is also one of the internationally popular Latin artists. Guerra’s famous Afro-Latino and merengue style has earned him great success throughout Latin America.
Early life and education of Juan Luis Guerra
Juan Luis Guerra was born on June 7, 1957 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to father Gilberto Guerra and mother Olga Seijas . He is of Caucasian ethnicity and has Dominican nationality.
He also has two brothers, Diego Esteban Guerra Seijas and Jose Gilberto Guerra Seijas .
Juan Guerra attended the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo and studied literature and philosophy. Later he studied music theory and guitar at the Santo Domingo National Conservatory of Music. After graduating from the Conservatory, Guerra joined the Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating in 1982 with a diploma in jazz composition.
Upon his return to the Dominican Republic, Guerra released his debut album, ”Soplando” with local musicians. Later they were known as Juan Luis Guerra and 400. The number refers to the standard tuning of the A440; the name of the band is Spanish, officially Cuatro Cuarenta.

In 1984, after a performance in front of the Dominican businessman Bienvenido Rodríguez, Juan Luis Guerra signed with Karen Records.
In 1990, 440 released the album. Bachata Rosa , which was one of the biggest hits and led Guerra to receive his first Grammy Award. With more than five million sales, the album allowed Juan Guerra to continue his tour of Latin America, the United States of America and Europe.

After six years in 2004, Guerra released his new album. for . The songs included on the albums are mostly for Christian, and they won two awards at the Billboard Music Awards, in the Gospel-Pop and Tropical-Merengue categories.
Guerra was also honored with the Premio Latino Especial from the Spanish Academy of Music for his contributions to the music of his country and the Caribbean.
During the 2006 show in Puerto Rico, Juan Guerra set records for the highest-grossing music tour when he opened for The Rolling Stones’ A Bigger Bang Tour.
The following year, at the Premio Lo Nuestro awards in 2007, Guerra received the honorary lifetime achievement award. The same year he released his album ” La Leave De Mo Corazon ”. The album also earned him more than 20 awards including six Casandra Awards, five Latin Grammy Awards, and four Billboard Awards, one Grammy Award, and two Lo Nuestro Awards.

Besides his married life, Guerra has also served as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNESCO during an event called ”Stand Up and Take Action Against Poverty and for the Millennium Development Goals,” in Bavaro, Dominican Republic.
On April 18, 2010, Guerra organized a concert to raise money for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Following the success of the event, Guerra opened a children’s hospital in Haiti.
