Celebrity Biographies
Josh Holloway
He hadn’t had much luck as an actor. Until he was offered to play Sawyer, the character from his life, in Lost . The series has made Josh Holloway a celebrity, but it remains to be seen if it has also typecast him forever.
Born in California on July 20, 1969, Joshua Lee Holloway comes from a family of Scottish roots. He began studying at the University of Georgia, but after a year he dropped out to pursue a modeling career.
Since childhood, Holloway had dreamed of acting, so he decided to settle in Los Angeles for a while, in search of his fortune. He did not do badly, as he obtained relevant supporting roles in independent films such as the thriller Desperada , and the comedy Dr. Benny . He also appeared occasionally in series like CSI: Las Vegas and a video clip.
His career took off with the plane crash series Lost , where he played the arrogant, independent and vain Sawyer, a half-hearted con man seeking revenge on the man who murdered his parents. He is also known for the nicknames he gives to his companions trapped on the island, such as Kate, whom he calls “Freckles”, or Sun and Jin, whom he has called “Tiger and Dragon”.
The day after filming wrapped on the series’ pilot episode, in Hawaii, Holloway decided to ask Jakarta native Yessica Kumala, his longtime girlfriend, to marry him. And it is that despite his air of “bad boy” in Lost , he is actually a very familiar man. The marriage saw the birth of his first daughter, Java Kumala Holloway, in 2009.
Although he starred in the mediocre thriller Hellion. The fallen angel , the truth is that Lost has hardly allowed him to shoot other projects. Apparently, she had to give up a role in X-Men: The Last Stand , and also in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford , in order to fulfill professional commitments on the series.
