Jordana Brewster is best known for her work as Mia Toretto, the sister of Vin Diesel’s character in the saga that began with “Full Throttle.” But the beautiful actress with Latin features showed that she had more to go, with her leading role in the horror film “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning” and as one of the central actresses in “Dallas: The Inheritors.”

Although she has the two nationalities of her parents, the American Alden Brewster –bank investor– and the Brazilian Maria João Leal de Sousa –model–, Jordana Brewster was born in Panama City, on April 26, 1980. She has a younger sister, Isabella Brewster, which is dedicated to the representation of actors.

The future actress spent most of her childhood in London, Rio de Janeiro, and finally New York, where she studied at the Sacred Heart Convent School. Later she would study English Language at the prestigious Yale University, with which her family is closely linked, since her paternal grandfather, Kingman Brewster, Jr., was president of the institution.

Determined to become an actress, Jordana Brewster devoted herself to television soap operas from a very young age. Following her appearance in episodes of a couple of titles – “All My Children” and “As the World Turns” – she received a nomination in the Breakthrough Teen category at the Soap Opera Digest Awards.

He made his film debut in the teen horror film The Faculty , by Robert Rodriguez . She played a student, editor of the school’s newspaper, in a high school where the teachers are controlled by alien creatures. The film did well at the box office, so the young Brewster began to be in demand. She appeared in the miniseries The 60s , with Julia Stiles , and in the film The Invisible Circus , a failed drama with Cameron Diaz .

But Jordana Brewster gave the big bell especially with Full throttle , where she played Mia Toretto, passionate about the motor, very close to her brother, Dominic “Dom” Toretto ( Vin Diesel ). With her enormous charm, she dazzled a policeman, who infiltrated the world of illegal racing to investigate the case of a gang of thieves ( Paul Walker ).

The actress turned down the first sequels, Full Throttle 2 and Full Throttle. Tokyo Race , as she preferred to focus on other projects. But it didn’t quite go well for her, as neither DEBS Spies in Action nor The Challenge (2006) had a great impact. She only succeeded in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Origin , a prequel to the Tobe Hooper film , where she played a young woman who, with her boyfriend, her brother-in-law, and the latter’s partner, end up in a sinister town where they will have a hard time. .

During filming she met one of the producers, Andrew Form, with whom she fell in love. The couple married in November 2006, in an intimate ceremony in The Bahamas.

The actress also appeared in various episodes of the Chuck series . But since then, Jordana Brewster has been almost forgotten. She shoots the comedy El chico de tu vida , but her scenes fall off the editing table. She stars in a pilot for a series based on Mr. and Mrs. Smith , the film with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie , but ABC isn’t convinced, and the project doesn’t go ahead.

She is forced to return to the motor franchise in Fast & Furious. Even faster , the fourth installment, which brings together all the original actors, also with the same problem, because Vin Diesel , Paul Walker and Michelle Rodríguez are also in the doldrums. She herself told me in an interview how she returned to the saga. “I was the one who called the production company to give me the role. When I shot the first part and it became a mass phenomenon, I was left very sidelined. I was at the university, concentrating on my studies, so I didn’t I capitalized on the success, while other actors in the film managed to take off”, commented the actress. “I heard a while ago that Justin Lin was going to direct the fourth part, with whom I worked on El desafío (2006) . So I thought they would surely call me. Just in case, I contacted the producers before there was even a script, to let them know I was interested in participating in the project.”

The box office responds, and Brewster repeats in Fast & Furious 5 and Fast & Furious 6 , although his interventions are always very secondary. Also, unexpectedly, Jordana Brewster has achieved television success with the series Dallas: The Heirs , the return of the Ewing clan, where she plays one of the protagonists, the cook’s daughter, who grew up on the Southfork ranch with John Ross and Christopher, the successors to the legendary JR and Bobby Ewing.
