Jon Gruden Biography

Jon Gruden is an American football coach who serves as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders of NFL. He previously served as the head coach of the Raiders for three years from 1998 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2002 to 2008.

He won Super Bowl XXXVII in his first season with the Buccaneers in 2003, where they defeated the Raiders. He then set the record for being the youngest coach to win the Super Bowl when he was just 39 years, 5 months, and 9 days old.

Early life, biography and education of Jon Gruden

Jon Gruden was born Jon David Gruden on August 17, 1963 in Sandusky, Ohio, United States of America. Jim Gruden and mother Kathy Gruden . His father was a regional professional football scout, running backs coach, and also director of player personnel for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers .

He spent most of his childhood in Ohio with his brothers, Jay Gruden and James Gruden . Jay played and coached in the Arena Football League and is currently the head coach of the Washington Redskins. Whereas, Jon’s other brother, James, became a radiologist at the Mayo Clinic.

Gruden attended Clay High School located in South Bend, Indiana. Gruden graduated from high school in 1981 and later attended Muskingum College based in New Concord, Ohio. After a year, he transferred to the University of Dayton. While in Dayton, he was a letterman for three years and backup quarterback for the Flyers. Gruden graduated with a degree in communications in 1985.

Jon Gruden’s career as a trainer and television personality

Jon Gruden was interested in football since his childhood and was also passionate about the NFL. His father was an NFL coach, which may have inspired him to pursue a career in the NFL. Therefore, Jon was always motivated to pursue a career in the NFL. He was a Cleveland Browns fan growing up in Sandusky.

Gruden was then hired as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Tennessee for the 1985-1986 seasons. He spent two years after that as the quarterbacks coach at Southeast Missouri State, Passing Game Coordinator at Southeast Missouri State, Wide Receivers Coach at the University of the Pacific, Offensive Assistant at San Francisco 49ers, Wide Receivers Coach at the University of Pittsburgh, Assistant Offensive at Green Bay Packers, Wide Receivers Coach at Green Bay Packers, Offensive Coordinator at Philadelphia Eagles, Head Coach at Oakland Raiders.

Gruden became the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2002 to 2008.

After a few years of dating, Gruden proposed to his then-girlfriend with an $1,800 ring. Cindy remembered the traditional engagement days of hers. She said,

Bless her heart, she paid $1,800 for that ring in cash. That was all she had and she gave it to me.

The couple subsequently married after their engagement. The couple have three children. They became parents for the first time after the two welcomed their first child. Deuce Gruden on January 19, 1994. They also have two children; Michael Gruden and Jayson Gruden .

Almost three decades have passed since the couple is still together and lives happily without rumors of divorce.
