- Sarah Trigger (1999-2004) – Jon married British actress, Sarah Trigger in 1999. They gave birth to a son, Charlie Austin, in 2000. Their marriage ended about five years later for an unknown reason. As part of the divorce proceedings, he was given custody of their son because the judge called Trigger an incompetent mother. However, Charlie continued to live with his mother. Jon typically exercises 5 days a week to keep himself fit. However, he doesn’t keep up a constant workout every five days. Two days a week, he does strength exercises under the guidance of his trainer, Rich Guzman. During the remaining 3 days he runs, walks or swims. He also drives long distances three days a week.
When preparing for triathlons, he mostly does brickwork workouts that involve cycling and running around. He usually goes to the golf course at Griffith Park. He also changes his running training and instead of flat running he goes uphill. Most recently, he trains in the morning.

- He was told to audition for the role of Chandler Bing in the famous TV series. friends . He was assisted in recording the role by a British casting agent. However, the tape did not reach the directors in time.
- In his early days he worked as an usher at the Equity Library Theatre. During his theater work, he was often confused with actor Matthew Broderick.
- Interestingly, his first acting assignment was when Matthew Broderick was a sophomore in Brighton Beach memoirs . His second Broadway role was to replace Matthew in The Torch Song Trilogy . He followed it by replacing Matthew on the Broadway show, Biloxi Blues .
- After diving into the shallow end of the pool, he lost his front two teeth. He then got artificial teeth as a replacement.
- In 2015 he published his autobiographical book, That’s How It Happened, in which he recounts his 30-year acting career in a comical tone.
