John Saxon is an American actor and martial artist. His work has been recognized internationally, especially when he shared a screen with the legendary Bruce Lee. He appeared with Lee in the martial arts movie ‘Enter the Dragon’. Additionally, he has worked on more than 200 projects during his 60-year career.

JOHN SAXON: BIO, FAMILY, EDUCATION

The actor was born on August 5, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York City, United States, as Carmine Orrico. He was born as the son of Anna and dockworker, Antonio Orrico. There is no information about his siblings or his early life.

He attended New Utrecht High School and graduated in 1953. From an early age he developed an interest in acting. Subsequently, he decided to turn his passion into a career. So, he later signed up to learn the game under popular coach Stella Adler.

JOHN SAXON: CAREER AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

After graduating, he signed an 18-month contract with Universal, then appeared in Studio First films. In 1954 he worked in two American films and was uncredited. However, he got his first major role in the drama ‘Running Wild’ with actress Mamie Van Doren. Subsequently, he appeared in the American Technicolor crime film “The Unguarded Moment” in 1956. In the same year, he appeared in a low-budget teen film “Rock, Pretty Baby”, which helped him become a teen idol. In 1958, he started receiving 3,000 fan letters a week.

With United Artist, he played the lead role in a movie about a juvenile delinquent “Cry Tough in 1959. Also, Carmine Oricco changed his name to John Saxon when he moved to California after being discovered by Henry Wilson, a talent agent.

In 1962, he traveled to Italy to play an Italian drama “Agostino”. After that he moved to Hollywood in 1963 and appeared in Otto Preminger’s ‘The Cardinal’. Then he returned to Europe for ‘The Cavern’ in 1964. He became a part of action movies like 1974 ‘Mitchell’, 1975 ‘The Swiss Conspiracy’, 1976 ‘Mark Strikes Again’, and 1977 ‘The Cynic, the Rat, and the fist’.

In 1982, he appeared in the recurring role of “Tony Cumson” on the Susan Sullivan star- studded “Falcon Crest” series.

JOHN SAXON: PERSONAL LIFE AND WIFE

Returning to his personal life, he failed to marry as in his career. He was married three times and divorced twice. His first marriage was to Mary Ann Saxon whom he married in 1967. The couple had welcomed their son Antonio Saxon who is also an actor. However, after 12 years of marriage, the couple separated in 1979.

Then he remarried after eight years of divorce from the first wife. In 1987 he married Elizabeth Saxon but their married life ended in 1992. Again for the third time he married Gloria Martel on August 29, 2008.
