John Ingle, known for his role as the conniving patriarch Edward Quartermaine in the series “General Hospital”, has died on Sunday, October 16, in Los Angeles, at the age of 84, as a result of cancer.

“He was a great man who lived life, appreciated what he did and above all loved his family,” said Frank Valentini, executive producer of the soap opera, in which he has continued to appear until now.

Born on May 7, 1928, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, John Ingle graduated from Occidental College, Los Angeles. He then began working as a drama teacher at Hollywood High School and Beverly Hills High School. He dedicated himself exclusively to this task for two decades. Among his students are Nicolas Cage , Albert Brooks , Richard Dreyfuss , Barbara Hershey , and David Schwimmer .

In 1954, Ingle married Grace-Lynne, with whom they would have five daughters. In February of this year, the actor suffered a severe blow due to the death of his wife.

In the early 80s, John Ingle decided to try his luck as an actor, putting his theoretical teachings into practice. He started out by starring in an episode of Dallas , where he played a surgeon, a role he was going to be typecast into. He played doctors in Batman and Robin and Robocop 2 , among other productions, before becoming Edward Quartermaine in 1993, the character that would bring him fame, in the General Hospital series . He embodied him for two decades until he last appeared in the episode aired on September 11.
