John C. Reilly
Not another thing, but John C. Reilly sounds wonderful as he demonstrated in Chicago (2002) . He is one of the most valued secondary actors of the moment. A profession that makes many around them wonder: what does this face sound like to me?
Anyone who knows John C. Reilly from his recent film works will think that he is the typical comedy actor who fits into the roles of a nerd with an easy laugh. In this vein are his characters in Past Turns (2006), along with Will Ferrell , or the pending release Dewey Cox: a long and hard life or Promotion . This comedic appearance of the actor, who seems to intend to continue in titles such as the recently shot Step Brothers–again together with Ferrell–, it has not been the dominant note of his career, where there have been roles for all tastes. The good work of him as a professional has made him one of the most valued secondaries of the moment. His work away from the protagonist’s spotlight is not a problem for Reilly, who says: “I love that people don’t recognize me. They don’t even know my name. In this world I can only think: ‘mission accomplished’. In fact, he finds it very funny that sometimes the public knows he knows him but not what, so they tell him all kinds of crazy comments that have nothing to do with him.
John C. Reilly was born on May 24, 1965 in Chicago. At only eight years old, he began his acting career at the Goodman School of Drama. From that moment on, his life began to be linked to the theater; He graduated in Fine Arts in 1987 from DePaul University Goodman School of Drama. He developed his career on the stages of different theaters, including Broadway. His dedication has not diminished over the years and Reilly has been able to combine his film work with his work on stage, which earned him a Tony nomination in 2000 for “True West.” He made his film debut in 1989 in Brian De Palma ‘s war film Hearts of Iron . That same year he was called by Neil Jordan to be supporting in the comedy We were never angels.. And it is that these types of roles gave him the opportunity to work with famous Hollywood names such as Tony Scott in Days of Thunder (1990) and Woody Allen in Shadows and Fog (1992). However, he still hadn’t had a chance to show his true talent as a movie actor. Even so, his life was going well, the offers followed one another and he had married the producer Alison Dickey, with whom he has two children and 16 years of life together.
His acting ability began to be noticed in titles such as the drama Who does Gilbert Grape love? (1993), where he was the rude friend of the character played by Johnny Depp . The darker side of him appeared in Wild River (1994), where he formed a criminal couple with Kevin Bacon . If in this title he put Meryl Streep in serious trouble , in Boogie Nights (1997) he was something of a run-down mentor for Mark Wahlberg . His role as a down-on-his-luck porn star gave way to a new war drama in The Thin Red Line.(1998). His good composition of the uneducated Sergeant Storm, fit like a glove in the excellent work of the choral cast of the tape.
Ten years after his film debut came his first starring role in the comedy The Settlement , where he was a con man. However, his career continued in other directions far from comedy and leading roles. He ventured into sports drama in Between Love and the Game (1999), where he was Kevin Costner ‘s baseball teammate . Some of his best work came in Magnolia from director Paul Thomas Anderson ., with whom he had already met on other occasions. His role as good-natured police officer Jim Kurring who falls in love with a drug addict revealed Reilly’s most tender side. Despite the good work with this character, for his next project he changed register and opted for disaster movies in The Perfect Storm (2000). His good work on Magnolia opened the doors to great directors like Martin Scorsese , with whom he worked on Gangs of New York (2002) and The Aviator (2004). If in the first he turned around Kurring’s officer to become a corrupt police officer, in the second he returned to the role of the protagonist’s friend, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Already before his second job with Scorsese, Reilly showed what he was capable of in Rob Marshall ‘s musical Chicago (2002) . The quality observed in Magnolia was consolidated in his role in Chicago (2002) , where he returned to being a good-natured loser who is only capable of inspiring good feelings. Reilly is Amos Hart, the husband of Renée Zellweger ‘s character, whom she vilifies and uses at her will. The goodness of her character is reflected in her interpretation of the musical theme “Mr. Cellophane”, a completely moving performance. His good work in Marshall’s film earned him an Oscar nomination and recognition as a great actor. However, from that moment he was spinning titles of different value. The most notable are The Hours (2002), where he was the insipid husband of Julianne Moore and Robert Altman ‘s The Last Show (2006) , where he once again demonstrated his talent as a singer by forming a country duo with Woody Harrelson . Along with these, there are more inconsequential titles such as Criminal(2004), the North American version of Nine Queens , and the horror film Dark Water (The footprint) (2006). From that moment on, she began her comic period with Pasado de vueltas . It looks like he’ll be ditching the genre with his next project , Cirque du Freak , a children’s title where he’ll be a vampire.
