TERESA GIUDICE’S HUSBAND JOE GIUDICE RELEASED FROM PRISON AFTER 41-MONTH SENTENCE
Joe Giudice is a free man.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star has been released from Allenwood Low Federal Correctional Institution in Allenwood, Pennsylvania, PEOPLE has confirmed. Giudice was transferred directly to a migrant detention center.
‘M. Giudice has finished serving his federal prison sentence and was transferred early this morning from the Bureau of Prisons to a facility in western Pennsylvania that houses immigration detainees,” his attorney James Leonard Jr. told PEOPLE. “His lawyers and family are hopeful that justice will prevail and that Mr Guidice will return home to his wife and four daughters who love and miss him.
Joe, 46, began his 41-month sentence for mail fraud, bank transfer and bankruptcy in March 2016. His wife Teresa Giudice, 46, herself served just over 11 months in prison for the same crimes and was released on December 23, 2015. .
A source previously told PEOPLE that Giudice will remain at the immigration center indefinitely pending his deportation decision.
In October, an immigration court decided to deport Joe to his native Italy after his prison sentence. (Even though he has lived in the United States since childhood, he was never granted U.S. citizenship, and immigrants can be deported if convicted of a “crime of moral turpitude” or a “aggravated felony,” according to U.S. law.)
He appealed the order in November.
Joe’s release comes weeks after Teresa was pictured holding hands in the Florida town with Blake Schreck, a real estate agent who is 20 years her junior.
Teresa’s attorney denied having a romantic relationship, telling PEOPLE the two were just friends and their interactions were brief and completely amicable. (“There’s no cheating, no divorce,” he said. “End of story.”) And during the RHONJ reunion, Teresa denied cheating on Joe as well.
The couple have stuck by each other due to their legal issues, but have been open about the effect their legal troubles have had on their marriage and their four daughters.
How Teresa Giudice and her 4 daughters dealt with Joe’s nearly 3-year prison sentence ‘I never thought I would be in this position,’ Teresa previously said. ‘It’s very difficult. We have been through a lot. I’ve been through ups and downs, I was angry – but listen, I gotta stay strong. I have four beautiful daughters who need their mommy. … [We] take it one day at a time. ‘
INTERVIEW WITH JOE GIUDICE
98 QUESTIONS I HAD DURING LAST NIGHT’S INTERVIEW WITH JOE AND TERESA GIUDICE
Even Vulture readers who aren’t big fans of The Real Housewives of New Jerseyhave probably already heard that series star Teresa Giudice and her husband Joe are both going to jail after pleading guilty to multiple counts of mail fraud, bank wire, banking and bankruptcy. Teresa will go to prison for 15 months starting in January, and when she returns Joe will serve 41 months. Over the weekend, the two future convicts sat down with Bravo bigwig Andy Cohen to do their first post-sentencing interview, which aired last night. Well, part one did, anyway – part two will air later because it’s Bravo and if something’s worth doing, it’s worth doing, cut into a million pieces and be released in bloody chunks over the course of a month.junkies expected this special to answer all our questions, it only raised more. Here are 98 questions I asked while watching the interview.
1–2. Couldn’t we tone down Andy Cohen’s clubhouse a bit? Is a Coney Island-themed gay bar really the right atmosphere for a prison interview?
3–4. Is this the best looking Joe Giudice has ever watched? Where do you buy a three-piece suit as wide as it is short?
5. Did Teresa get her outfit from the Lindsay Lohan for Court line at Sears?
6–7. Joe didn’t think he was going to get that much imprisonment? Isn’t that three and a half years much less than the 50 years they faced if convicted on all counts?
8-10. Has Teresa never known what to say before? Does she look like Miss White from Clue to You? Does “Um. I was… I was so nervous yesterday, I was shaking. My nerves, my nerves were shooting…”his” Flames. Flames, on the side of my face”?
11–14. Is Andy Cohen’s only reaction face the one where he nods with a sideways smile? Does the speed of the nod indicate how it feels? Does he nod slowly for worried and nod quickly for excited? Is Andy Cohen’s smirk like a dog’s tail wagging?
15–16. When Teresa says, “I need to read things before I sign them. I need to figure things out before I sign them. “Does she realize that if her husband didn’t break the law, he wouldn’t present her with things that would be illegal to sign? If you can’t trust your husband not to do anything to send you to jail, who can you trust?
17–18. Will Teresa cry? When will Teresa cry?
19–23. Teresa didn’t realize her plea deal could land her in jail for 27 months? Didn’t she just say she needed to figure things out before she signed them? Did this take effect after she signed her plea deal, or after she signed all those forged bank documents? Also, what would make Teresa understand? A pencil drawing on a Denny placemat, perhaps?
24–26. Wow, is Teresa really that messed up? Will she get through this ordeal without having a mental breakdown? Do I really feel bad for Teresa Giudice, a convicted felon?
27. Is it wrong for them to think that Teresa shouldn’t go to jail when she was guilty of signing things?
28–30. Is Andy Cohen trying to get a Pulitzer for this interview, holding his feet up like this? Do you think he went to Anderson Cooper’s West Village Fire Station and they practiced shirtless while going through tips on how to interrogate criminals? Did I just write slash fiction?
31–32. Does Joe even know the danger he was putting Teresa in by making her sign fake loan forms? Does he think he’s going to convince us that he didn’t know exactly how he was breaking the law by doing this?
33–35. Joe is a simple guy who didn’t want more money to keep up with the Joneses? Have you two seen the onyx palace you live in? If you didn’t want all that money, why did you break the law to get it?
36–38. Teresa doesn’t spend money she doesn’t have? So how do they have $11 million in debt? Isn’t that the very meaning of debt spending money you don’t have?
39–44. How much do you think Joe Giudice’s costume cost? That’s a $125 suit? Where do you even get that two-suits-two-shirts-two-ties-for-$250 deal? Is it a store in a New Jersey mall next to Porsche? Why doesn’t Andy tell us how much his suit cost? Is he embarrassed?
45–47. Won’t Teresa cry? Even after talking about seeing her mom after her jail term, she still won’t cry? What will it take to make Teresa cry?
48-51. How spoiled will poor Gia be now that her parents are going to jail and she has to help raise her sisters? Guidance counselors meet students whose parents go to jail? Will this help Gia? My guidance counselor gave me passes to smoke cigarettes outside of school – was that wrong?
52–57. What will life be like in the Giudice house when Teresa is in prison? What if Gia gets her first period while her mom is in the slammer? Can you imagine her having to go to Joe and tell him and get his advice? Wouldn’t it be better to just google ‘how to put on a tampon’ rather than let Joe Giudice guide you? Oh my God, would they call Melissa Gorga and have her come and tell him? Would they film it for the show? It would be an amazing scene in the series.
58–60. How do they even make money now housewives ? Does Joe have a job? Do a lot of people buy Fabellinis?
61–65. They really didn’t say anything to the girls ? These kids have no idea what’s going on? They don’t think Milania and Gabriella know what’s going on? Seriously, they don’t think a parent of a child watching the show said anything to their child, and the child didn’t say it to either of them? If you’re old enough to understand Adventure Time , aren’t you old enough to understand that your parents are going to jail?
66–67. Will Joe cry talking about his dead father? Will Joe cry before Teresa?
68–71. Do I really feel sympathy for these people right now? Sure, I know their kids, I feel for them, and I understand it’s hard to lose a parent, but am I supposed to feel bad for people who committed real crimes and are now going to jail for those crimes? I wouldn’t feel bad if some random guy who committed a white collar crime went to jail, would I? Am I just conditioned to support the people I follow on reality TV shows?
72–75. Is she really not going to tell the kids she’s going to jail? How is she going to explain where she is to the kids when they, you know, come to visit her in prison ? Will her daughter ask, “Mom, why do we have to talk to you on the phone?” Or ‘Why is there a glass wall between us?’
76–80. Are you more afraid for Teresa in prison than Joe? Have you seen the way Teresa can take it out on a person and flip a table or rip out a weave? Do you really think she won’t be able to hold her own in the slammer? Isn’t she more ready than stupid Piper on Orange Is the New Black ? Do you hate that thinning-haired moron as much as I do?
81. Can Joe or Teresa string five words together without “uh”, “like” or “you know”?
82–85. Do you think Teresa will pull out a book of beauty secrets she learned in prison? Can ‘Just Slick Your Hair Back and Go About Your Day’ be the first chapter of a bestseller? Oh my, is this Teresa humble and shying away from the evil, materialistic, beauty-obsessed harridan that she used to be? Will Teresa ( sip ) actually learn something about being a good person from this experience?
86–87. Does Teresa finally realize that all that matters is her children? Can she do without the huge palace, $3,000 handbags and Ugg boots of every color and Swarovski-encrusted iPhone cases?
88–91. If Teresa isn’t the same person who pushed Andy Cohen into that meeting, as she says, do you think she might have to be that person again to get through jail time? Also, former housewife Danielle Staub went to jail, do you think she has any advice for Teresa before she leaves? What do you think Danielle Staub is doing right now? Do you think she’s in a condo in Wayne somewhere, wringing out one of her wife beaters she just washed in the sink and staring out the window in the little wood behind her house, wondering what that’s out there, wondering what’s next for her, wondering if this is what revenge looks like,
92–98. If no one can press Teresa’s buttons like before, is she ruined as a Real Housewife? If she’s lost the ability to scrap, is she worth anything to Andy Cohen anymore? Shouldn’t Bravo pay the Giudice’s attorney fees? Or at least the $829,176 in fines they were ordered to pay? Don’t they owe them so much? They’re getting all these grades and making all this money with Teresa and Joe for all these years, can’t they get in some more? Or should they just be fined for aiding and abetting, for harboring these two ruthless criminals for all these years?
