Jo Koy is a Filipino-American comedian currently touring as a headliner and performing in theaters across America. Koy was also a panelist for late night show ‘Chelsea Lately’. He also made appearances on The Adam Carolla Show. There he is famous for his impressions and they range from welcoming PFChang to gloomy and furious taxi driver.

JO KOY: EARLY CHILDHOOD AND EDUCATION

Joseph Glenn Herbert was born into a Filipino-American family on June 2, 1971. He grew up in Tacoma, Washington DC Koy is of Filipino ethnicity and is of European-American descent. Jo was born to a father who was in the Air Force. The family later moved to Las Vegas after graduating from high school in Tacoma, Washington.

For his education, Koy went to Spanaway Lake High School and later moved to Foss High School. Then, after moving to Nevada, he joined the University of Nevada. However, he soon dropped out of the institution to pursue a stand-up career.

JO KOY: CAREER

Koy began his career with a start in the comedy drama club in 1994. In a very short time, he went from an open mic night to a regular spot on the show Catch a Rising Star.

Jo Koy has come a long way since his debut and is now one of the hottest names in the industry. He has now made appearances alongside Jamie Foxx and won Showtime at the Apollo where he performed in front of the USO Tour troops. In 2005, he performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He is one of the few comics to receive a standing ovation for his performance on the show.
