Early age and education
The reassuring gamer was born on June 24, 1984 in Cookeville, Tennessee. He is a US national and belongs to the White American ethnicity. He attended Cave Spring High School in Roanoke, Virginia, where he was a McDonald’s All-American, winning MVP of the 2002 McDonald’s All-American Game.
Redick scored 43 points as a senior in the Virginia state championship game, where the Knights defeated George Wythe High School of Richmond. Later, he attended Duke University, where he also played several basketball games.

The talented player was selected with the 11th pick in the NBA draft by the Orlando Magic. He competed against Trevor Ariza and Keith Bogans for the starting shooting guard job during 2007-08. Due to his lack of defense during the preseason, he was removed from playing more than once.

The son of Jeanie and Ken Redick, JJ Redick was born in Tennessee. His father played basketball for two seasons at Ohio University. Redick’s older twin sisters named Catie and Alyssa played for Campbell University. He has a younger brother named David who was a soccer player but later decided not to play due to his leg injury.
David later moved to Orlando with JJ and attended Virginia Tech and Drexel University. JJ is a Christian and has four Bible verse tattoos including Isaiah, Joshua, Psalm and Philippians. He was named JJ when he was a young child because his twin sisters repeated their original nickname of ‘J.’
Redick was arrested and charged with driving under the use of alcohol in North Carolina. On that occasion, his blood alcohol level was 0.11 and he was released on $1,000 bail shortly after his arrest. He pleaded guilty and received a 60-day suspended license in North Carolina.
