Jimmy Connors was born James Scott ‘Jimmy’ Connors on September 2, 1952, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of Gloria Connors. He spent most of his childhood days in East St. Louis, Illinois. Connors was raised as a Catholic. Jimmy had already started playing tennis when he was under 11 years old. He moved to Southern California with his mother to become a tennis coach. Jimmy attended St. Phillip’s Elementary School. Jimmy had already won the Junior Orange Bowl twice when he was 12 and when he was 14.
