The financial expert was born as James J. Cramer on February 10, 1955 in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, United States. He was born as the son of Jewish parents N. Ken and Louise A. Carmer. His mother was an artist while his father owned International Packaging Products in Philadelphia. The company also sold products like wrapping paper, boxes and bags to retailers and restaurants. He grew up with his brother Nan Cramer

He reportedly revealed that he had been interested in the stock market from an early age in fourth grade. In 1971, he notably sold coca-cola and ice cream at Veterans Stadium during Philadelphia Phillies games. Regarding his education, he attended Springfield Township High School in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

Additionally, he earned a Bachelor of Arts at Harvard College with a Bachelor of Arts in Government in 1977. Cramer was interested in journalism and also became president and editor of Harvard Crimson. In 1984, he earned a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School.

In the late 90s, he became a frequent guest commentator on CNBC. He later co-hosted ‘Kudlow & Cramer’ from 2002 to 2005 with Larry Kudlow. Then he started hosting CNBC’s “Mad Money” since 2005.
