Jim Boeheim is an American college basketball coach for the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Syracuse Orange men’s team. In his coaching, the Orange led to amassing five Big East Tournament championships as well as 34 NCAA Tournaments. Additionally, he served as an assistant coach for USA Men’s National Basketball at the FIBA World Championship (1990, 2006-10) and Summer Olympics (2008, -12, -16). The college basketball coach was born on November 17, 1944, which makes him around 76 years old. He was born to the athlete’s parents: father Jim Boeheim Sr. and mother Janet, a golfer in Lyons, New York. He has an American nationality and belongs to the white ethnicity.
Regarding his education, he attended Lyons Central High School. After graduating from school, he enrolled at Syracuse University in 1962. From there, he earned a bachelor’s degree in social science and joined the Delta Upsilon fraternity. While in college, he was the captain of the varsity team in his senior years. After graduating, he played professionally with the Scranton Miners of the Eastern Professional Basketball League.

He started his career as a basketball coach in 1969 and was hired as an assistant under Roy Danforth at Syracuse. Subsequently, he was promoted to full-time assistant coach and also helped guide the Orange to the 1975 NCAA Tournament. Then, in 1976, he was promoted to head coach after Danforth left to join the University of Tulane as head basketball coach and athletic director.
Additionally, he has spent most of his career at Syracuse as a student, assistant coach, or head coach. He was also named Big East Coach of the Year four times. For the first time in his career, he was expelled after contesting a late game appeal against Division II school Saint Rose in 2005. Following this, he was expelled from Cameroon Indoor Stadium in 2014 after contesting a player control foul against Duc.
He also continued to coach the United States national teams. After years, he returned as an assistant coach under Mike Krzyzewski for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England. In April 2018, he announced his retirement but he extended his contract until the 2017-18 season following his son’s commitment to play at Syracuse in 2018.

However, their relationship did not last long and separated in 1993 and filed for divorce the same year. In 1994, they officially divorced and went their own way. The same year when he separated from his first wife, he met his future second wife Julie at a Derby Day party in Lexington, Kentucky.
