Personal trainer
Jessie Diggins had a pretty grueling on-site workout routine to prepare her body for the Winter Olympics. Her daily training usually started at 9am with light rollerskiing for about 2 hours in her hometown. Because it’s difficult to always find snow, most cross-country skiers rely on roller skiing, which is similar to roller skating, for endurance.
After she finished rollerblading, she jogged around for about an hour and a half. In the evening she had another training session, which started with a run of about 40 minutes at a comfortable pace. A series of exercises to strengthen her core followed. She finished her workout with some stretching and a foam roller.
She normally trains 6 days a week and takes the luxury of a day off once a week.
Her daily diet plan is as follows:
- Breakfast – She toasts steel-cut oats in coconut oil and soaks them in almond milk and chai spices overnight. In the morning, she adds toasted apple slices, pecans, and Greek yogurt to the bowl of oats.
- Post-Workout Morning Snack – Homemade Banana Flaxseed Muffin with Clementine
- Lunch – Pasta with pesto and baked salmon or a salad of goat cheese, beets and walnuts
- Afternoon Snack – A homemade cookie with a little granola in kefir, a drinkable yogurt
- Dinner – Stir fried pheasant with vegetables and brown rice
- Night Snack – Homemade White Chili with Brown Rice
