Jessica Quick Biography

Jessica Quick is an American meteorologist based in Missouri. She currently works at KSDK-TV NewsChannel 5. She has over three years of camera experience, having worked for several well-established companies throughout her career. The success of her career lies not only in her meteorological knowledge, but also in technological knowledge, as she can use various advanced software and manage the social media of all companies.

Studied at Northern Illinois University

Jessica Quick received her undergraduate education from Northern Illinois University graduating in May 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology. She also received a certificate in Geographic Information Systems from NIU. She was also a student-athlete and competed on the school’s NCAA Division I track and field teams during all four years of her tenure.

Born and raised in central Illinois, Jessica Quick experienced the Midwestern climate. Her fear of storms as a child intrigued her with the severe weather and thus she generated an interest in meteorology. Aside from hurricanes, she has experienced almost all kinds of bad weather situations.

early career

In February 2006, Jessica Quick landed her first job as a cashier at a general food store, doing basic things like adding up the price, packaging customer items, and stocking the shelves.

Beginning in March 2007, she served as the head cashier at a Tommy Hilfiger retail store. Her job was to store clothing and assemble floor sets and displays. In May 2010, she got a job at Cabot Corporation, a chemical industry.

Journalism career

So Jessica Quick began directing her career in the news department. Ella joined the US National Weather Service as an intern in May 2011, where she worked primarily on the Data Acquisition desk and collected weather and cooperative observer data.

He also received training in SHEF code, hydrology, aviation and river forecasting, and the use of the NOAA weather radio. To cap off her internship, she completed a research project with a lead forecaster describing the synoptic pattern of a 2010 severe weather event.

In July 2012, Jessica Quick joined WICS-TV as a weather intern. Over the course of four months, she worked with Chief Meteorologist Ric Kearbey and gained experience with Weather Central 3D Live products. She also learned how to use the Avid NewsCutter software.

In October 2012, she joined KRCG as a Weekend Meteorologist/Reporter, providing accurate weather synopsis for a week, creating charts with weather hub, creating and presenting stories for viewers, etc.

In February 2015, Jessica Quick landed a job with Missouri’s News-Press & Gazette Company as a meteorologist and director of digital content. In addition to creating her own original forecasts and creating weather stories for Mid-Missouri viewers, she also oversaw the station’s websites and social media accounts. Since March 2016, Jessica has been working as a Meteorologist for KSDK Newschannel 5 and has joined the First Alert Weather Team.
