Jeremy Roenick is a former athlete who played most of his professional ice hockey career in the National Hockey League (NHL). Additionally, he had played for the teams: “Chicago Blackhawks”, “Phoenix Coyotes”, “Philadelphia Flyers”, “Los Angeles Kings” and “San Jose Sharks” during his 18 season NHL career. The athlete was born on January 17, 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He was the son of father Wally Roenick and mother Jo Roenick. Apart from that, there is information about his parents and siblings. From the age of four, he began his hockey career when his playmates’ parents persuaded Jeremy’s parents to sign up for sports. As a youth, he participated in the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament in 1982.
In 1983, he played with the Washington Capitals Minor Ice Hockey. After that, he moved to Fairfax, Virginia, and traveled to play for the bantam-level New Jersey Rockets until 1986. At the age of fifteen, he and his family moved to Massachusetts after having flew from Dulles Airpot to Newark, New Jersey. . In Massachusetts, he joined Thayer Academy and was drafted in the 1988 NHL Draft in an eight-overall against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Thereafter, he began his professional career in the NHL against the New York Rangers and the Minnesota North Stars in 1989. He played with the team until 1996 and in the last 11 games with a sprained ankle. From 1996 to 2001, he played with the Phoenix Coyotes team in exchange for Alexei Zhammnov, Craig Mills and a first draft pick. During his time with the team, he played 80 games and recorded 133 hits.

From 2001 to 2009 playing career:
In 2001 he signed the Philadelphia Flyers as a free agent. With the team, he won the Bobby Clarke Trophy (MVP) and Yanick Dupre Memorial (Class Guy) team awards in his first season. In 2004, while playing against the New York Rangers, he was hit in the face by an errant slapshot from Rangers defenseman Boris Mironov. Because of this, his jaw broke in 19 places and knocked him unconscious for several minutes as he lay on the ice in a pool of blood.
In 2005, the Flyers surprised everyone by signing Peter Forsberg and then Roenick was traded to the Los Angeles Kings the next day. He played for a year and managed just 22 points in 58 games, the lowest score since his rookie game. For the next year, he signed Phoenix Coyotes to a $1.2 million contract from 2006-07.
After scoring his career low, everyone had speculated that the player would retire. But later, he signed the San Jose Sharks for a year with $500,000 in the role of checking center line. He then resigned with the team for another year with a $1.1 million contract. In 2009, he announced his retirement from the NHL and professional hockey. Additionally, he finished his playing career with 513 goals and 703 assists in 1,363 games for a total of 1,216 points.

He also co-hosted two episodes of Fox Sports Net’s ‘The Best Damn Sports Show…Period’. In 2010, he was a studio analyst for the NBC Sports network. He co-hosted NHL coverage with host Kathryn Tappen.
