  1. She was born a man. She was then diagnosed with gender identity disorder at the age of 5, making her one of the youngest people to be documented as transgender.
  2. Growing up, her parents dressed her in gender-neutral clothing, but she wanted to dress in feminine clothing. She made it clear that she wanted to identify herself as a woman.
  3. When she was 6, Jazz and her parents appeared on national television shows to discuss the challenges of growing up as a transgender child.
  4. In 2007, with the help of her parents, she founded TransKids Purple Rainbow Foundation , which works to support transgender youth.
  5. In 2011, Jazz and her family were featured in the documentary I Am Jazz: A Family in Transition, which aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
