Popular US rapper and businessman, Jay-Z has featured Olamide Femi Kuti and Sarkodie in the latest African-themed album titled The Ascension which will be released in some weeks time. The album also includes Nasty C who is also from Africa.

However, “The Ascension” can only be streamed exclusively on Jay-Z’s Tidal in its opening weekend. is coming as a surprise considering the less/no hype preceding the unveiling of the tracklist for the album.
Categorically we can conclude that he is trying to follow the step of his wife, Beyonce by featuring African artists.
According to Jay Z, featuring African artists is something of a dream, in that it connects him with his motherland_Africa.

“I’ve always wanted to get in touch with my roots and connect to the motherland. You know, Africa is blessed with so much talent and I felt like it was time to tap into that resource.
“The Ascension is not just talking or focusing on Africa but it’s also about me giving back to the people, familiarizing with the culture and connecting more with the motherland.”
