Jay Watson is an Australian multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter, best known for his role in two of Australia’s best-known bands, Tame the Impala and Pond . As a solo artist working under the nickname RUBBER , he is known for releasing several albums such as Delorean Highway (2014), Glamorous Damage (2015), Flash in the Pan (2016) and The Outsider (2018). He has also released many hit singles like Dazed Lesson (2016), Elafonissi Blue (2016), SIA (2018) and The Outsider(2018). His music videos The Blue Marble (2018) and Stunned Lesson (2015) also brought him a lot of fame. He has also built a huge following on Instagram with more than 80,000 followers.

First album

Under the stage name GUMMI , he released his debut album entitled Delorean Highway on May 30, 2014. It was compiled from a total of 10 songs such as Growing Up , The Heavens Opened , Summer Rains , and Day of the Triffids .

As a member of Teich , he brought his skills to the release of their first studio album entitled Psychedelic Mango on January 9, 2009. It consisted of a total of 8 tracks such as Paisley Adams , Bees , That’s How We Came , and Sweeping My Thought Tunnel . The album also included 2 bonus tracks entitled Don’t Look At The Sun Or You’ll Be Blind which was played live at the John Curtin Band Zimmer in Melbourne in 2010 and Mick Manmoose which was played live at Mojos in Fremantle in 2009.

2. Jay got his stage name “GUM” from his nickname “Gumby” which was given to him in reference to an American sound animation show called Gumby . He later changed it to GUMMI when he started recording his own music.
3. He co-founded the Australian psychedelic rock band Teich in 2008 along with fellow musicians Nick Allbrook and Joe Ryan. Jay also plays alongside Kevin Parker of Tame Impala as their drummer and keyboardist.
