The most veteran viewers will remember Jerry Gold, presenter on the television network where the protagonist of “Murphy Brown” worked. The actor who played the character, Jay Thomas, died on August 24, 2017 at the age of 69, as reported by Don Buchwald, his agent, as a result of cancer. He died accompanied by his wife and his children.

Born on July 12, 1948, in Kermit, Texas, Jon Thomas Terrell (his real name) studied at a Jesuit school in New Orleans. He began to stand out as a secondary in the series  Mork & Mindy , in 1979. But he established himself in nine episodes of  Cheers , where he played Eddie LeBec, an ice hockey player married to  Rhea Perlman ‘s character . 

In cinema, he participated in titles such as  Professor Holland . For years he was also a popular guest on shows like “Late Night with David Letterman.” In addition, he hosted the radio show “The Jay Thomas Show.”
