Janice Huff was born on September 1, 1960 in New York City, New York. She moved with her grandparents in Columbia, South Carolina at a young age. She joined Eau Claire High School to receive her early education.

She joined Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida to receive her higher education and graduated from there with a minor in meteorology.
Janice Huff worked as a weekend meteorologist at WTVC, Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1983. In 1983, she began working as a weather reporter at WRBL, Columbus, GA. After her significant contribution to meteorology, she received the American Meteorological Society’s seal of approval for television weather broadcasting in the year 1985. After that, in 1987, Janice Huff started working as an on-air meteorologist at KSDK, St.Louis, Missouri. She covered the Crystal Apple Awards there.
Janice Huff went to the NBC affiliate, KRON in San Francisco in April 1991. She was an on-air meteorologist there and also hosted Bay Area Best Bets.
