Jang Hun is a naturally talented filmmaker, who has learned from one of the greats, and has managed to chart his own path, where reaching the viewer becomes a primary goal, but not at any price.

Born in Jeongseon, Jang Hun took his first cinematographic steps as assistant director of his compatriot Kim Ki-Duk in The Bow (2005), whom he considers his teacher, but when it came to making his directorial debut with Rough Cut (2008), the relationship between an actor and a gangster who want to emulate each other, opted for stories capable of connecting with the general public.

And he was right, the film swept the domestic box office, as would also happen with his next film, Secret Reunion (2010), with a plot of espionage and improbable friendship between two agents, one from North Korea and the other from South Korea.

His next film, The Front Line (2011), touched on the theme of the war that tore the country apart, which was 60 years old, and was selected by country to attend the Oscars, the same thing that happened with A Taxi Driver ( 2017), which uses as a backdrop the student protests of 1980, cruelly repressed by government authorities.

The director has known how to combine attractive plots, good composition of characters, and tremendous dynamism with a staging that frequently uses the camera in hand.
