  1. At the age of 13 he joined the National Youth Theatre. He enjoyed collaborating with Murder at the Cathedral and Marat/Sade in the plays alongside Daniel Craig.
  2. He wanted to pursue a full-time acting career, but his financial situation did not allow him to pursue that dream.
  3. In 1985 he competed as a fencer for the county of Sussex.
  4. During his student days he read the BBC GLR traffic bulletins to break into sports coverage.
  5. Before becoming a broadcaster, he also worked for Christie’s.
  6. He was reading football and cricket reports on GLR and Radio 5 Live when he was seen by BBC’s sporting director and there was no flashback.
  7. In 2003 he traveled to Uganda to meet children of ex-soldiers.
  8. In 2004, he played piano and guitar for Michelle Lawson’s The Wonderful Thing music promo.
  9. In June 2009, he was awarded the Radio Presenter of the Year award at the Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards.
  10. Theakston has lived in Wings Place, a manor house in Ditchling, East Sussex, for 10 years.
