Jamie Dornan was born on the 1st of May, 1982 in Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland and grew up in the suburbs of Belfast. He has two elder sisters, Liesa, and Jessica. The former works for Disney in London, and the latter is a fashion designer based in Falmouth, Cornwall, England. Interestingly, his paternal and maternal grandparents were Methodist lay preachers.

Jamie Dornan attended and boarded at Methodist College Belfast, where he played rugby and participated in the drama department. While in school, he appeared in Christmas Pantomime and portrayed Widow Twanky which earned him his first drama prize. After then, he also participated in several other productions in his school drama group which resulted in earning him recognition and popularity in his school. From the age of 12, he participated in the native production of Anton Chekhov’s stage dramas.
