James Rebhorn was known for playing the father of the protagonist (Claire Danes) in the series “Homeland”. The veteran character actor passed away on March 21, 2015, at his New Jersey residence, at the age of 65, due to melanoma that he suffered from. The news was released by Rebecca Linn, his wife.

Born on September 1, 1948, in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), James Robert Rebhorn comes from a family of German descent. Of Lutheran confession, he studied Political Science at the Wittenberg University in Springfield (Ohio). In the classrooms he discovered his passion for theater, and ended up studying for a Master’s in Acting at Columbia University.

He has not stopped chaining roles since he made his debut on the big screen, with The Yum Yum Girls , where he played a casting director. He then briefly appeared as a teacher in She Knows You’re Alone , a drunk in Los ojos del gato , and an army officer in the miniseries North and South .

He used to appear as a doctor, as he embodied this profession in titles like About Henry , Silkwood , Basic Instinct and Her Parents . Also noteworthy are his works as the father of a sick person in The Oil of Life , a watchman in Shadows and Fog , Secretary of Defense in Independence Day , and as a man fighting for custody of his nephew, the son of Hugh Jackman’s character, in Steel . pure .

His last job was to give life to Frank Mathison, father of CIA agent Carrie Mathison, in Homeland , one of the biggest cathodic hits of the decade. He is survived by his wife and his two daughters.
