James May is an English television presenter and journalist, popular as a presenter on the automobile show. Top Gear with fellow presenters such as Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond for more than 12 years. When James graduated from Lancaster University, he worked for a short time in a Chelsea hospital, where he served as a record officer, and spent some time in public service. James May spent his early years as a journalist. He worked as an editor for Autocar Magazine and The Engineer . While working in Autocar MagazineJames May pulled a prank that led to his sacking. He then became a writer and author. Initially, he wrote for publications such as Top Gear Magazine and Auto Magazine . James wrote a weekly column for the Daily Telegraph Motor Section. He also wrote the book May on Motors 2006, co-authored the book Oz and James’ Great Wine Adventure in 2006 and wrote the afterword to The Long Road With Turns in late 2006 by LJK Setright, who is a motorist.

James May has several television credits including presenting Dangers on Channel 4 in 1998 and co-hosting ITV1’s coverage of the London Boat Show in 2006. After the program Top Gear James May has been a presenter on The Grand Tour since 2015 which was hosted by Amazon Video released. He posed alongside former presenters on Top Gear , Hammond and Clarkson. He is co-owner and managing director of the production company W. Chump & Sons which was founded in July 2015.

James was fired from his job at Autocar because of a prank he pulled. In 1992, when the year-end magazine Road Test Year Book was published, each spread had 4 ratings each, marked in red letters. James May’s work was tedious and involved putting the entire book together. James May wrote each review to make it feel like a riddle. The first 4 spreads read the “Road Test Year Book” and subsequent tests consisted of random letters. When the letters were put together and the punctuation added, it said, “So you think it’s really good, yeah? They should try to invent the damn thing; It’s a real nuisance.” He got fired from the job because of it.
