Even before he secured a move to the English top flight, James Maddison was ranked among the top rated prospects in England and his later move to the Premier League was not down to a lack of skill or interest from big clubs. Rather deliberately, he had decided to delay his move to bigger clubs as it would have limited his regular playing time. The decision proved a feat as time in the 2nd division made him tougher and allowed him to work on his game. Furthermore, if he secured a move to Leicester City he was well-equipped for the fast-paced style of play in the English Premier League.
