James Arness was born on May 26, 1923 in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, with the real name James King Airness. He was born as the eldest son of father Rolf Cirkler Aurness and mother, Ruth Duesler . He grew up in his hometown with his brother. Peter Graves .

During the 20 years of his life, he played the role of Dillon in 5 different decades of his life. He resided in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California for a long time.

Regarding his educational qualifications, James completed his education at Minneapolis Washburn High School. He received his Master’s in Soul from Beloit College.

Arness as a militant

Although his parents were businessmen, he was not very interested in business. Arness had a dream of being a pilot as a naval fighter. But his poor eyesight and vision problems were the main obstacle that blocked him.

Arness still served as a rifleman during the Infantry Division in the 3rd rank within the United States. He also landed at Anzio Beachhead on January 22, 1944, which was mentioned in the Autobiography that said about James Arness.

His funeral was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, where he was buried in Glendale, California.
