Little known facts

Jamel Debbouze had a difficult youth; he took part in neighborhood gang actions and flirted with petty crime. theJanuary 17, 1990, at Trappes station, wanting to cross the tracks, he was caught by the Paris-Nantes train, at the same time as a boy of his age, Jean-Paul Admette (son of Reunionese singer  Michel Admette ). This one is killed, while Debbouze is seriously injured and loses the use of his right arm. Following the accident, legal proceedings were brought against the young Jamel – 14 years old at the time of the events – for manslaughter. It ends with a dismissal.

This accident marks a turning point in the life of the teenager. Physically impaired, he is forced to find new activities, but also to invent a character to stand out. Taking advantage of his disabled arm, with which he gives himself a comical look, he began to practice theatrical improvisation for which he discovered his gift.
