JAMB to start 2022 registration on the 12th of February

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)  has announced that the registration for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) will start on the 12th of February.

The examination body revealed this in its weekly bulletin released by the Director of Public Relations, Dr Fabian Benjamin.  According to him, the UTME/DE registration will end on March 19 while the mock exam is scheduled to hold on April 20.

The Board also disclosed that the UTME will take place between April 20 and 30 and that it has taken over the collection of the N700 registration fee from CBT centres.

Earlier, the board had warned prospective applicants to disregard fraudsters claiming the UTME/DE forms are already out.

“For the avoidance of doubt, any information in circulation purporting to have emanated from the Board to the effect that the sale of the 2022 UTME and DE forms has commenced is not only fraudulent but is a calculated attempt by mischief makers to create unnecessary panic among prospective candidates for their own selfish ends,” it had said.

In other news, the executive governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has warned the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to stop giving preferential scores to Northern students in its UTME exams.

The Governor gave the warning in an interview on Channels Tv, he maintained that the differential JAMB score mads has made the Northern students develop a lazy attitude towards their academic work.

He called for the standardization of the scores to meet the national and global standards to make students fit into every educational institution.

His words: “The North has always been behind in education, we’ve continuously been the disadvantaged region right from independence even though we’re given preferences, JAMB scores and all that. That has not helped, in fact, it has made our people lazy.

“Against this differential JAMB and FG (Federal Government) scores, I think people should be encouraged to work hard and compete and we’re prepared to make our children in Kaduna State to be competitive, not only in the state but globally.
