Born in Anacortes, Washington, Jake Anderson is an American fishing captain aboard the F/V Saga fishing vessel. He has been part of the Discovery Channel documentary television series Deadliest Catch since 2007.
A fourth-generation fisherman, Jake has always lived near the sea. He was born in Forks, Washington, and grew up in the fishing town of Anacortes, Washington. He was surrounded by generations of fishermen. After being raised in this rich environment, he took to the sea at a very young age with his uncle Brian Mavar.

At just 17, he was fishing for salmon off Bristol Bay in Alaska. At 20 he was on a trawler processor and started trap fishing at 25. A year later, he became a greenhorn on the fishing vessel Northwestern. He worked there for the next six years.

His hard work and commitment took him from greenhorn to full deckhand to relief deck chief, under Captain Sig Hansen. Although he experienced his fair share of hardships, he also strived to overcome them. Jake has matured and aged dramatically since the sudden death of his sister and the murder of his father.
