Horror fans remember him as the protagonist of “The New York Ripper” by Lucio Fulci. He also played aristocrat Sir Timothy Havelock, father of Carole Bouquet, in “For Your Eyes Only,” with Roger Moore as James Bond. British Jack Hedley passed away at the age of 92, on December 11, 2021. 

Born October 28, 1929, Londoner Jack Snowdon Hawkins decided to change his name, early in his career, to avoid confusion with actor Jack Hawkins . He started his journey in the 1950s as a supporting role in titles like Left Right and Center, and in the early 1960s he starred in the British series  The World of Tim Frazer .

Jack Hedley He had small roles in Lawrence of Arabia , where he played a reporter, and in The Longest Day , where he was a military man. In the series Colditz Escape he played Lieutenant Colonel Preston, one of the soldiers who tried to escape from a Nazi prison camp during World War II. 

He broke out on film as a burnt-out police detective in Lucio Fulci ‘s horror film The New York Ripper. He goes on the trail of a serial killer, but has only one clue: that he talks like a duck. He also drew attention in the film of the 007 saga Only for his eyes , where his character tried to locate the survivors of a shipwreck, but was murdered by a Cuban hitman.

In 1984 he divorced his wife, Jean, with whom he had two children. Jack Hedley ‘s last screen appearance was as a priest in St.  Paul , an Italian miniseries.
