Irrfan Khan
She was one of the few Bollywood stars to make a career in America. She is mostly known as the cop from “Slumdog Millionaire”. Irrfan Khan passed away on April 29, 2020, in a Mumbai hospital, after a long battle with cancer at the age of 53.
The actor revealed in 2018 that he had been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor. “Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought to the end and always inspired those close to him. After being struck by lightning with the news of a little known cancer, he accepted life as it came and fought every battle. Surrounded by his love, his family, which was what he loved the most, he traveled to heaven, leaving behind a true legacy,” said a statement from his representative.
Born on January 7, 1967, in Jaipur, Irrfan Khan was the son of Muslim parents. In 1984 he won a scholarship that allowed him to study at the National School of Dramatic Art (NSD) in New Delhi. After graduating, he moved to Bombay, where he was recruited for numerous television series. In cinema, he gave the bell in India as the protagonist of The Warrior , by Asif Kapadia . In addition to appearing in popular titles of the industry in his country, such as Gunaah and Pratha , he has triumphed with titles from prestigious directors, such as The Good Name , directed by Mira Nair , and A Trip to Darjeeling , by Wes Anderson .
Irrfan Khan married the writer Sutapa Sikdar, with whom he had a son, Babil. Internationally, he established himself in 2009 as a police inspector for Slumdog Millionaire . He was also the protagonist in his adult stage of The Life of Pi , and took part in the series In therapy and some blockbuster like The Amazing Spider-Man . He played his best work in The Lunchbox , where he was a closed-off widowed civil servant about to retire exchanging messages through a lunch box with a stranger.
