Irene Kane
Irene Kane was the main female actress in the then very young Stanley Kubrick’s film “Kiss of the Assassin”. Kane passed away on October 31, 2013, from pancreatic cancer, at her New York residence.
After appearing briefly in the unknown series Love of Life , Irene Kane was sponsored by Vogue photographer Bert Stern, who introduced her to his colleague Stanley Kubrick , when he was looking for an actress for Killer’s Kiss , his second feature film. She played a singer attacked by her boss, a mobster kingpin, who gets unexpected help from her neighbor, a washed-up boxer ( Jamie Smith ).
Subsequently, she would only appear again in episodes of the Look Up and Live series , and Naked City , and in a supporting role in Bob Fosse ‘s All That Jazz , where she played the film critic.
After marrying Michael Chase, son of the playwright Mary Chase, dedicated to television production, the actress changed her professional name to Chris Chase. She retrained as a journalist and writer of biographical books, of celebrities such as Rosalind Russell , Betty Ford and Josephine Baker . She survived a spectacular car accident suffered together with her husband, and she ended up being recruited as a chronicler on the CNN channel.
