The appointment of Mr. David Tomlinson as the new Finance Director and Mr. Carlos Coutino as the new Managing Director has been approved by the Board of International Breweries Plc. The appointments will become effective on January 1, 2023, according to a corporate declaration by the brewer that was submitted to the Nigerian Exchange.
Following Mr. Hugo Dias Rocha’s departure as the organization’s former Managing Director, Mr. Coutino was appointed. The statement noted that the departing MD and Mr. Eduardo Caceres, a previous Executive Director, will transition to other roles within AB-InBev in keeping with the company’s ethos of meritocracy and encouraging people’s growth.
Hugo Dias Rocha will specifically take on the roles of BU President for El Salvador and Honduras and Head of Revenue & Finance at Beer Tech South Africa, replacing Eduardo Caceres.
Mr. Coutino holds an MBA with a focus on strategy and a degree in industrial engineering. He started working with ABInBev in 2004 and has spent the last 18 years at the highest levels in the Sales/Marketing and Trade Marketing departments, traveling to seven different countries and three different continents.

The following is an excerpt from the statement that Company Secretary Muyiwa Ayojimi signed:
“Until his recent appointment, Carlos was the National Sales/Trade Marketing Director of the Company since 2018, where he has demonstrated his experience and knowledge of strategic planning and commercial execution of the Nigerian market.
During his tenure, The Company has significantly increased volume and market share. Carlos’s appointment is a testament to his results and AB-InBev’s culture of meritocracy.”
Mr. Tomlinson is a bachelor of business administration with a double degree in Economics and Finance. In Texas, where he is from, he started his career with CIT, a large commercial bank, in oil and gas lending, assisting local communities by fostering economic expansion. Before beginning his employment with AB InBev at the global headquarters in June 2017, he held a number of senior consulting jobs.
Insights and experience from the AB InBev Global Headquarters in New York are brought by David. The dispatch of David from the global headquarters is evidence of AB-confidence InBev’s in and strategic relevance in the Nigerian beer market.
